Thoughts.
I think people have a tendency to think that poetry is all totally autobiographical. Its not. Its often about a thought you’ve had that you’ve explored in your mind and put into words. It doesn’t all have to be from direct experience and it would be reductive to view it as such. Often the things expressed stem from a fragment of truth that has been developed by the writer. Sometimes you have to just experience the poem, rather than trying to de code it. Just take it as it is. Rarely you will find a rational logic within it that matches your own. Saying that, sometimes its all about story telling. I have a few poems that are essentially re-tellings of my own personal experience.
